I take on the challenge of building a survival house using a giant fallen tree deep in the forest as my foundation. This unique setting provided both inspiration and challenge, pushing me to use my bushcraft skills to transform the natural structure into a livable home. The project is all about making the best use of what nature offers for shelter and protection.
One of the key tasks was crafting a roof using long grass and other special natural materials. This required patience and technique to weave and layer the grass properly to create a waterproof and durable covering that can withstand rain and wind. It was rewarding to see the shelter take shape as the roof came together piece by piece, turning the fallen tree into a cozy refuge.

Throughout the process, I focused on details that would make the shelter comfortable and functional for survival living. I used traditional bushcraft methods, carefully selecting materials from the environment and shaping them with hand tools. The shelter is designed not only to protect me from the elements but also to blend seamlessly into the forest surroundings.
Building a shelter on a fallen tree is a unique challenge that tests creativity and adaptability. I had to consider how to secure the structure, manage the natural slope, and use the tree’s form to my advantage. The experience was an incredible lesson in wilderness survival and self-reliance, highlighting the importance of understanding and working with nature.
By the end of this part of the build, the survival house began to feel like a real home—strong, safe, and ready for its purpose in the wild. This video captures the early stages of what will become a remarkable bushcraft project, blending natural materials and primitive skills to create peaceful shelter deep in the forest.
